Manipulation Under anesthesia - Mua

Questions??

HOW AND WHY?

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR MUA

WHY ANESTHESIA?

MUA’s require a full team of Medical and Chiropractic Professionals, who have specialized training in MUA in an Ambulatory Surgical Center environment. These professionals are licensed and certified. Our team includes a Board Certified Anesthesiologist, a Medical Physician and several chiropractors who perform the manipulation, and a nursing staff that is fully trained in “Pre and Post Operative” protocols. We also have a board certified pain manager who will evaluate and treat using with either a natural product called “serapin” or a steroid depending on the referral to reduce inflammation and pain from the procedure .

WHY ANESTHESIA?

A “twilight sedation” is required to remove the guarded nature of the patient to their chronic pain. The sedation allows the patient to be treated with adjustments and movements quickly and pain free, helping to improve, or even restore, the range of motion. The sedation also allows the pain perceiving nerves, that are irritated due to the dysfunctional area, to fully relax and be stretched. Sedation also allows the reduction of adhesions caused by scar tissue.

The manipulation and stretching techniques of MUA, and pain management through injections are procedures once used independently, are now combined with excellent results. Together the two elements can result in increased joint motion, improved functional abilities and decreased pain. Following your MUA procedure will be a therapy program to prevent future pain.
